Kentucky Utilities & Energy

Easily accessible and cost-effective utilities, especially water and energy sources, are important to a business's bottom line. Both business and residential customers in Kentucky enjoy some of the lowest utility prices in the United States.

In fact, Kentucky Utilities Company's rates are more than 40% below the national average. LG&E Energy, the parent company of Kentucky Utilities Co. and Louisville Gas and Electric Co., was ranked as the best provider of electricity to residential customers in the Midwest by J.D. Powers in July 1999. According to the J.D. Powers' report, LG&E performs well in all areas, with particular strength in image, price and value.

Electricity is especially affordable, thanks to the generous availability of local raw materials, such as coal, allowing local electric cooperatives to distribute power using the most modern technology while keeping rates low.

Natural gas is readily available in many areas, and liquefied natural gas and propane can be delivered to the most rural locations.

In Kentucky, an abundant water supply is provided by the careful management of lakes, reservoirs and flow on rivers such as the Kentucky and Ohio.

The same care is taken to ensure wastewater treatment facilities are maintained and monitored.

Commitment to customer service also is a key part of the success of Kentucky utility companies, which provide 24-hour assistance in case of emergency.
