Comparing Costs
How does the cost of living in Lexington compare with other cities in the region?

The American Chamber of Commerce Researchers Association (ACCRA) has released its most recent comparison of price levels for consumer goods and services in 12 cities in and around the Central Kentucky area. Though the index indicates that Lexington area residents may be paying higher rates for healthcare and other miscellaneous goods than their neighbors, the reported utility costs support Kentucky Utilities' ads promoting the advantages of "living in 'KU Country'" – Lexington had by far the lowest utility rates of the cities surveyed. Featured below is an overall look at how Lexington ranks (cities are listed from lowest to highest according to the composite index):
