March '98 Meridian Announces New
President, Promotions
Meridian Communications, a Lexington-based marketing,
advertising and public relations firm, has named Joel Rapp as its new
president and chief operating officer. In his previous position of senior vice president
and director of media services, Rapp ran the agency's media planning and buying operations
for six years.
In addition to the announcement of Rapp's promotion,
Meridian also announced that current president Don Van Erden has been
promoted to the newly-created post of agency vice chairman. Ave Lawyer,
executive vice president for creative services, has been assigned the responsibility of
strategic planning for all Meridian clients.
Other promotions at Meridian include:

John Myers, senior vice president
Kenny Weaver, vice president - creative services
Mary Hemlepp, director of public relations
Laura Newsome, director of special events
Shane Hall, manager of marketing services
Mary Ellen Slone, founder of the agency,
will continue as agency chairman and CEO.

Tricia R. Carpenter, Susan Keffer, Mary (Mollie)
Schnettler and Stephen Schnettler have become associated with
the firm of Dean, Dorton & Ford, P.S.C.
ADVERTISING
LeAnn True Norton has been named account
coordinator for AD-SUCCESS.
CONSTRUCTION
Stanley Gross has been appointed president
of HH General Contractor Inc., replacing Jon G. Hall, who has been
elected chief executive officer and chairman of the board.
CONSULTING
Alvin A. Rhoney, C.P.A., has been named
senior consultant for Profit Management Consulting, Inc.
Ken Kimmel has joined Millennial
Enterprises, an international business consulting and development firm.
FINANCE
Greg Mullins has been named as a
commercial lending officer with the commercial lending group of Central Bank. David
Denson has been named as a mortgage lending officer with the bank.
Robert Feenick has been hired as a vice
president and equine lender for Bank One's Lexington Commercial Banking Group.
FOOD SERVICE
Long John Silver's has announced the following
appointments:
Joe Kendra vice president -- brand
marketing
Tom Jump vice president -- marketing services.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Wayne Ebersohl has been promoted to
director of sales with Bitwise Technology.
John Atterbury, Sherrie Hurley, Robert Raymond
and Ted Vittos have been named account managers with Systems Design
Group, Inc.
REAL ESTATE/PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
Isaac Commercial Properties, Inc. has promoted Paul
Ray Smith, Jr. to the position of executive vice president and appointed
Bruce R. Isaac vice president of the company.
OTHER
Wendy Haney has been named director of
membership for Greenbrier Golf & Country Club. Mark Tassone has been
named the club's golf course superintendent.
Susan Martin has been promoted to
assistant vice president of sales and marketing at The Jockey Club Information Systems,
Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Jockey Club.
Thomas Tessar has been named vice
president of sales for G & M Moving and Storage of Kentucky, an Atlas Van Lines agent
in Lexington.

promotions:

Chris Dykes has joined Speedway
SuperAmerica LLC's planning and analysis team in Lexington.
Shield Environmental Associates, Inc., a Charlotte-based
environmental consulting firm with offices in Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Lexington, has named
James D. Knauss of Lexington as chief executive officer of the company.
Genesis Viatical, L.L.C., a company that provides financial
assistance to individuals with life-threatening illnesses, has named Trish Sills
as president.
