YOUNG
PROFESSIONALS - November 2002 by Jennifer Kustes New Beginnings Members of the Lexington Young Professionals Association recently gathered for their second annual meeting, a semi-formal event that celebrated LYPAs second year as part of the Lexington community and introduced members to the new leaders who will determine LYPAs direction in the year to come. The LYPA Annual Meeting was held at the University Club of Kentuckys outdoor pavilion and featured a buffet-style dinner, where LYPA members had the chance to eat and chat with the sponsors and mentors in attendance. The keynote speaker for the evening was Darby Turner of Greenbaum, Doll, McDonald. Following Turners remarks, Immediate Past President Kimberly Coleman officially passed the gavel of leadership over to LYPAs new president, Joy Sanders. Sanders then addressed the gathering with her hopes for the coming year, emphasizing LYPAs role in the community as a professional organization. She also highlighted LYPAs mission to provide professional development opportunities for its members and to foster their civic and personal career growth, so that members can strive to improve the quality of life in the Lexington area. The new LYPA slate of leadership was introduced. The 2002-2003 officers are: Sanders, Vice President Eric Lycan, Secretary Dawn Brockman, and Treasurer Jim Wombles. The Steering Council members are: Membership Chair Veronica Roeder, Professional Development Chair Jason Miller, Community Involvement Chair Tanzi Merritt, Communications Chair Kara MacDonald, and Financial Development Chair Richard Stump. The board of directors includes: Kimberly Coleman, John Shropshire, Kathy Plomin, Logan Hillyard, Colleen Blouin, Phil Holoubek, and David Dickens. YPAL announces
