Savoring the Wine Country
Tips for planning a weekend getaway to Northern California

Want a great way to spend a long weekend? Try visiting Sonoma Valley or another of the wonderful wine counties located throughout Northern California.

Air connections from Kentucky are excellent. Delta Air Lines offers a non-stop flight from the Northern Kentucky/ Cincinnati Airport to San Francisco. After a 90-minute drive in your rental car north over the Golden Gate Bridge, you will be checking into your hotel or lodge in Sonoma Valley. Half an hour later, you can be enjoying tastings at one of the many vineyards located throughout the region, relaxing in a hot tub, or partaking of a Swedish massage.

The Northern California area also has a broad selection of locally owned and operated restaurants from which to choose. The range of food service is broad and many restaurants feature local and organically grown agricultural products.

If you have more than a long weekend, visit the wine country during the weekdays and cap off the trip with an overnight stay in San Francisco. The lighter weekday traffic makes getting restaurant reservations and moving around San Francisco much easier. And you will have a short drive on your departure date to catch your flight back to Kentucky. Very convenient.
